Outbound Campaigns
A voice AI agent that places the calls of a campaign from your list, at the pace of your own telephony, and sends every outcome back to your stack. At uMinds: 50,000 calls in under 3 hours.
What is AI outbound calling?
AI outbound calling means a voice AI agent places the calls of a campaign from a list of contacts, at a pace you control, and reports the outcome of every call.
It suits calls that people expect or have asked for: confirmations, callbacks, follow-ups. On CallShift it runs on your own telephony, on native speech-to-speech models or on a pipeline, and each result goes back to your stack.
- 50,000calls in under 3 hours at uMinds, on 45 lines and their own SIP
- ~20%better performance for speech-to-speech in uMinds' A/B test in production
- 1,000+calls in under a minute, a milestone reached in April 2026

The calls it makes.
Start with calls the person expects. The last column is why you may call.
| Call | What the agent does | Why you may call |
|---|---|---|
| Appointment confirmations | Reads the contact's upcoming appointment from the calendar, then confirms or reschedules it. | The person has an appointment with you. |
| Callback to a lead who asked | Calls one contact at a time, as requests come in, and qualifies them. | The lead asked to be called. |
| Follow-up of opted-in leads | Works a list of contacts who agreed to be called, and books or transfers the ones who are ready. | Prior consent. |
| Customer follow-ups | Calls customers about deliveries, satisfaction surveys or what they already subscribed. | A contract in progress. |
| B2B outreach | Calls professionals from your list. | The opt-out regime applies: honour every refusal. |
From the list to the outcomes.
- Create the campaign and add contacts. Import a CSV or push contacts through the API, up to 1,000 per request. Each contact's fields and metadata personalise the call.
- Test on a few numbers. Create the campaign inactive, add a handful of internal numbers, activate it and listen to the recordings before you load the file.
- Calls go out at your pace. Within your lines and the calls per second of your SIP trunk. Stop the campaign and the queue comes back in seconds; dialling also pauses when prepaid credit runs out.
- Read the outcomes. Each call is flagged reached, significant (over 30 seconds), successful (your definition) or silent, with your fields, in the dashboard, in a CSV, by webhook and through the API.
- Retry and callbacks. Relaunch the contacts who did not answer as a retry campaign. Someone who calls back the number reaches the same agent, and the call is tied to the campaign.
Two ceilings set the pace.
Your real pace is the lower of two numbers: the calls per second of your SIP trunks, times 60, and your concurrent lines, times 60, divided by the seconds a dial holds a line (ringing plus talk).
With 1 call per second, 13 seconds of ringing and 14-second calls, 27 calls hold a line at once, so 10 lines cap the campaign long before the provider does. uMinds ran 45 lines at 5 calls per second on a single number: 50,000 calls in under 3 hours.
You set the calls per second of each SIP trunk, from 1 to 100. Ten concurrent lines are included, and each extra line is €10 a month.

Speech-to-speech or pipeline, tested on your campaign.
Outbound calls are judged on the first second, so the voice matters. uMinds A/B tested both architectures live on the same campaign: their Spanish speech-to-speech agents came out about 20% ahead of their pipeline.
Who you may call, and how.
CallShift provides the technology: you decide who is called, when, why and with what disclosures. This is a summary, not legal advice.
- France, consumers: since 11 August 2026, commercial prospecting by phone needs the consumer's prior consent (article L. 223-1 of the Consumer Code, as amended by law 2025-594 of 30 June 2025). Calls that concern a contract in progress are not prospecting, and B2B calls stay under the opt-out regime.
- Calling hours in France: Monday to Friday, 10:00 to 13:00 and 14:00 to 20:00, never on public holidays. The app warns you when a campaign starts outside these hours; it does not block it.
- France, caller ID: since 1 January 2023, automated outbound calls, to consumers or professionals, must display a verified multipurpose number (NPV). NPVs start with 01 62, 01 63, 02 70, 02 71, 03 77, 03 78, 04 24, 04 25, 05 68, 05 69, 09 48 or 09 49, and your carrier supplies them.
- AI disclosure: since 2 August 2026, article 50 of the EU AI Act requires people to be told they are talking to an AI. You write the opening line of each agent.
- Opt-outs: numbers marked opted out are skipped before every call, across your account. You feed that list, in the app or through the API, and you keep your own consent records.
AI outbound calling, answered.
How many calls per minute can a campaign make?
The lower of your trunks' calls per second times 60 and your lines times 60 divided by the seconds a dial holds a line. At 1 call per second with 13 seconds of ringing and 14-second calls, 10 lines (one kept free for callbacks) allow about 20 calls a minute. Run your own numbers in the outbound campaign simulator.
Can I use my own SIP trunk or Twilio numbers?
Yes. Import your Twilio numbers on any plan, or connect your own SIP trunk on Professional and Scale, and set the calls per second of each trunk.
Is AI outbound calling legal in France?
It depends on who you call and why. Since 11 August 2026, prospecting consumers needs their prior consent; calls about a contract in progress do not, B2B stays under the opt-out regime, callers must be told they are talking to an AI, and automated calls must show a verified number (NPV). Ask your counsel before you launch.
What happens when someone asks not to be called again?
Mark the number as opted out, in the app or through the API. It is then skipped before every call, across your account.
What if nobody answers?
Voicemail and unanswered calls count as not reached. You relaunch them as a retry campaign, at another hour or on another day.
How much does it cost?
Extra minutes cost €0.50 on Starter, €0.40 on Professional and down to €0.15 on Scale. Ten concurrent lines are included, and each extra line is €10 a month. See the pricing.
